Fallon offering $100K for health initiatives

Photo/Grant Welker Worcester's Fallon Health is seeking interest from organizations for $100,000 in grants it plans to give for area health initiatives.

Fallon Health is seeking interest from local organizations for a share of $100,000 in grants to support health initiatives for children and seniors.

Organizations are encouraged to submits letters of intent by the close of business on June 29. Fallon's community benefits committee will review the submissions and invite a select number to submit more detailed applications.

The Worcester-based health insurer will announce the recipients in December.

This marks the 12th year of the Community Benefits Grant program, with more than $1.3 million awarded in previous years. Last year, 10 organizations were chosen from 123 applicants.

Grants will be awarded to new programs or for the expansion of existing programs that serve targeted populations across Fallon's service area throughout Massachusetts with a particular focus on the following counties: Berkshire, Bristol, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Middlesex and Worcester.
