Fallon expanding elder care program to Webster

Worcester-based Fallon Health on Monday announced it will move its elder care program in Charlton to Webster, which will increase program capacity by 50 percent.

Over the next 12 months, the health insurer’s Summit ElderCare program will be moved into a planned facility at 108 Thompson Road in Webster, according to a company statement. Construction will begin soon, and will consolidate the Charlton program’s operations at two facilities under one roof.

The move is necessary because of the significant growth of Fallon’s Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly, a Medicaid-funded program Fallon has operated under the Summit ElderCare name for 22 years.

With more than 1,100 participants enrolled in the program, Summit ElderCare PACE Centers are located in Charlton, Leominster, Lowell, Springfield and in two locations in Worcester, as well as western New York.

The PACE program provides members with comprehensive medical care and social support such as home care, physical therapy and specialized equipment, in one location. It serves people 55 years and older who are eligible for nursing-home care.
