Worcester's Fallon Clinic announced plans to become the sixth nonprofit member of Newton-based Atrius Health.
Atrius Health is currently an alliance of five nonprofit medical groups and Fallon will be the sixth.
The two groups announced that a partnership was being explored in April. A spokesperson for Fallon Clinic said the organization expects to officially become part of Atrius by this fall.
Fallon Clinic's 250 doctors and 1,700 employees across 20 sites will join the 1,000 physicians and 7,200 employees that are part of Atrius. Atrius serves more than 1 million adult and pediatric patients.
Attorney General Martha Coakley's Office announced that state officials have requested information from the companies to "address potential antitrust concerns that could impact consumers" because of the deal.
Atrius and Fallon Clinic will be required to submit terms for any new contracts 30 days in advance of their taking effect for state review.
