FAA grants $1M to Worcester airport

The Federal Aviation Administration has granted $1 million to Worcester Regional Airport to help expand the airport’s services.

The grant will be used to rehabilitate about an acre and a half of apron pavement badly needing to be redone, according to U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern’s office.

In a statement, McGovern said the grant will help fund essential upkeep as the airport continues its growth.

“The exciting renewal happening at Worcester Airport has not only increased their capacity to offer new flights – it has bolstered economic vitality across Central Massachusetts,” McGovern said.

The airport last month began JetBlue flights to New York City, and in the fall will begin flights to Philadelphia via American Airlines.
