Expanding Fiberoptics Firm Moves To Worcester
Schoelly Imaging, the North American partner of a German fiberoptics company, is relocating from West Boylston to refurbished space at 722 Plantation St. in Worcester.
City Manager Michael V. O'Brien's office announced the move this morning.
Schoelly has agreed to lease about 13,000 square feet at the once-blighted 16,000-square-foot former home of an electroplating facility. The company employs 28 people and has plans to create additional jobs over the next two years.
722 Plantation was renovated in 2007 by Poor Farm Brook Development LLC and is currently home to IBS Commodities Inc., which occupies about 3,000 square feet there. The building will be fully occupied once Schoelly takes occupancy in early spring.
Worcester-based commercial real estate firm Glickman Kovago & Co. brokered the lease transaction. The city's economic development office and the state Office of Business Development provided Schoelly with site search assistance for two years before the company decided on the Plantation Street location.
Schoelly Imaging was founded in 2005 as a joint venture between Schoelly Fiberoptic of Germany and David A. McNally of Holden, now Schoelly Imaging's president.
The company is Schoelly Fiberoptic's North American partner and provides technical sales and service for all products manufactured by Schoelly.
