There’s a new chef in town, as SONOMA Restaurant has named Michael Chandler as the new executive chef of the restaurant in Worcester’s Beechwood Hotel.
With 30 years of culinary experience, Chandler comes to SONOMA having previously served as executive chef at Grill 23 & Bar and at the now-closed Top of the Hub restaurant, both of Boston, according to a Wednesday press release from SONOMA.
“Worcester’s growth presents a perfect time to reinvent SONOMA Restaurant by reintroducing it to the Worcester market with an acclaimed Chef,” Dr. Charles Birbara, SONOMA owner, said in the release. “Chef Chandler brings a breath of fresh air to Worcester, and we are confident that his culinary talents, along with his expertise in French bistro-style cuisine, will bring yet another elevation to the Worcester restaurant scene.”
Chandler is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute, a now-closed culinary institution located in New York City, and earned his bachelor’s degree in public policy and economics from the University at Albany in New York.
“I’m so excited to be a part of Worcester’s tremendous growth - to share my passion for food and hospitality,” Chandler said in the release. “I am also looking forward to sharing high-quality bistro favorites utilizing seasonal ingredients.”
