A Knoxville, Tenn.-based Verizon Wireless franchise will open in the former location of office furniture company P.W. Sherman Inc. in Worcester.
The family-owned business had operated out of the 9,540-square-foot building at 87 Gold Star Blvd. for 60 years, until the business was purchased by office supply retailer W.B. Mason in early 2011, according to published reports.
According to the Worcester Registry of Deeds, the Sherman family sold the property to Noble Development LLC for $1.1 million in April and Noble secured the tenant, Cellular Sales of Knoxville.
On Dec. 31, John Medeiros of Wilbraham bought the property from Noble for $1.9 million.
According to Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services, which brokered the December sale, Cellular Sales recently signed a 10-year lease for the site and another that Medeiros purchased from Noble in Westfield. Both locations will be renovated by the tenant within coming months, Marcus & Millchap said. According to Cellular Sales' website, it already has five locations in Massachusetts, including one in Auburn.
Brokers Bob Horvath and Todd Tremblay represented both parties in the deal.
