Evergreen Solar Inc. of Marlborough said a series of its solar panels have been certified to withstand the rigors of coastal installation.
The panels, known as the ES-A series will be featured at a solar industry trade show this week in Spain.
Evergreen said the panels have been tested against the "salt mist corrosion" that threatens coastal installations and that the panels came through the testing with no sign of corrosion.
The panels are already certified for use in areas that experience heavy snow and high winds.
In addition to its Marlborough headquarters, Evergreen has a massive manufacturing facility in Devens. The company reported a $24 million loss in the first quarter on revenue of $78.5 million.
This morning, its stock was trading at less than $1 per share.
