Equestrian Supplies Retailer On An Upward Tack

Dover Saddlery Inc., a Littleton-based equestrian supplies retailer, said second quarter revenue increased 3.9 percent to $19.9 million as its profit jumped 156 percent to $869,000.

During the quarter, the company launched HorsePharm, which delivers equine pharmaceuticals by mail.

For the first six months of the year, the company made a $677,000 profit compared to a $250,000 loss in the first half of 2009. Revenue for the half was $36.1 million, an increase of nearly 2 percent.

The company said its new retail stores had a strong quarter. Same-store sales increased 0.5 percent in the first half.
