The EPA has announced that it will continue a contract with Caliper Life Sciences of Hopkinton for another year.
Caliper has been part of the EPA’s ToxCast initiative, which is designed to create laboratory tests for regulatory approval of new environmental chemicals, since 2007. Caliper has already filled $3.5 million in task orders under the contract.
The EPA also released initial analyses of data generated by Caliper Discovery Alliances and Services under the contract. The results show that the Caliper tests were able to replicate the results from animal tests 99 percent of the time, and otherwise provided good-quality data, the company said.
