The owner of an Oxford car wash powered by 35 new solar panels is set to inaugurate the system Friday.
The Greenhouse Carwash on Main Street in Oxford, with a $24,000 grant from the state and a 30 percent federal solar energy tax credit, had the system installed when its owner, Mark Marzeotti, realized it would lower the operation’s monthly expenses almost immediately.
The project was designed and installed by Channel Sun Inc. of Westborough, which specializes in the design and installation of commercial solar systems.
In addition to the solar panels, Greenhouse uses biodegradable soaps and waxes and a water recycling system that allows the car wash to re-use up to 90 percent of its water.
The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at 101 Main St. in Oxford.
