Worcester Polytechnic Institute is enrolling students for the upcoming session of its Fundamentals of Biomanufacturing accelerated training program.
The program is targeted at adults who want to gain skills for entry-level jobs in the area’s biomanufacturing industry. The new session begins April 22 and lasts eight weeks.
WPI said the program is taught by instructors who are hiring managers in the field. It’s offered through a partnership with life sciences companies that include AbbVie (formerly Abbott Laboratories), Bristol-Myers Squibb and Shire Human Genetic Therapies.
The hands-on program will allow students to learn and work on the processes involved in biomanufacturing such as elements of fermentation, media preparation, centrifugation, buffer preparation, purification and aseptic processing in a biosafety cabinet.
