Employment Board Gets A Fresh Image

The region’s jobs support agency has a new name.

The organization known as the Central Massachusetts Regional Employment Board has changed its name to the Central Massachusetts Workforce Investment Board.

The name change was made to reflect the Worcester-based agency’s enacting legislation, the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. That law created local boards like the CMWIB to work with businesses on workforce development issues.

The CMWIB worked with Westborough-based Penta Communications on the rebranding process.

The agency also announced that it had qualified for a $100,000 grant from the state that will be used to “build capacity of our workforce system, close the skills gap and enhance youth employment opportunities.”
