A Braintree home and hardware supply company has purchased the former Empire Beauty School location on Route 9 in Framingham for nearly $1.53 million.
Stewart and Ben Rosen, president and vice president of Norfolk Cos. in Braintree, purchased the property via 624 Worcester Road LLC on Monday. They could not immediately be reached for comment.
According to the company’s website, the company operates showrooms in Boston, two Braintree and three in New Hampshire.
Empire Beauty School, according to a recorded message to the location, closed Aug. 2. A spokesperson could not be reached for comment.
The 10,500-square-foot building sits on a busy stretch of Route 9 across from Whole Foods.
According to property flyers, the building was listed for $1.65 million with Empire Beauty School listed as an at-will tenant paying an annual rent of $287,000. The property was marketed with the school’s intentions unclear.
On the school’s website, Empire indicates the Framingham location isn’t accepting new students. The school operates other local locations in Boston, Malden and Providence.
