EMC Corp. of Hopkinton, a week ahead of releasing its quarterly results, said it projects record revenues for its second quarter.
The data storage giant said it took in about $5.31 billion during the quarter, which ended June 30. That's 10 percent higher than the same quarter in 2011.
The company also projects earnings per weighted average diluted share (EPS) will jump 11 percent to 39 cents.
EMC said it expects to reach its full-year revenue goal of $22 billion and $1.70 in EPS.
The company also announced several executive-level appointments, notably in its VMware division. Pat Gelsinger, EMC's president and chief operating officer of information infrastructure products, will become CEO of VMware, effective Sept. 1. He'll replace Paul Maritz, who will join EMC as chief strategist.
