Hopkinton data storage firm EMC Corp. has appointed Chad Sakac as the president of its renamed VCE division, in the hopes he can create synergies with the rest of the corporation.
The VCE division was founded in 2011 in cooperation with Cisco, Intel and VMWare in 2011, as a way to offer clients well-rounded software products – instead of just components. EMC absorbed the division in 2014, buying out its partners’ shares in the venture.
With the appointment of Sakac as president, VCE will be renamed the EMC Converged Platforms Division. EMC is in the middle of being acquired by Texas computer giant Dell, Inc. for a record $67 billion.
Sakac comes to the role from EMC Global Systems Engineering, where he ran the division. He will continue in both roles, in the hopes that he can provide a richer customer experience while maximizing the efficiencies of the company.
Sakac replaces Praveen Akkiraju, who ran VCE since 2012. Akkiraju will remain on in an advisory role.
