EDC, Education Development Center Inc., said it will move its corporate headquarters from Newton to Waltham next year.
The health and education-focused nonprofit said its new address in the 500,000-square-foot CenterPoint office park in Waltham is only about a mile from its present office at 55-57 Chapel St. in Newton.
EDC said the company is taking advantage of a “tenant-friendly real estate market,” and moving into a larger office at a cost savings.
The 120,000-square-foot office in Waltham is being renovated for EDC, which will house about 450 employees there.
The company said it researched new office locations for two years before deciding on the CenterPoint office.
The Waltham building is owned jointly by Saracen Properties and Trammell Crow Co. Acquisition Funds.
With the addition of EDC, CenterPoint will be 70 percent leased.
