The EcoTarium Museum of Science and Nature in Worcester has named Debra Shear to the newly created position of chief advancement officer.
"I am truly honored to join the EcoTarium family," Shear said in a Tuesday press release from the EcoTarium. "My experience across a range of for-profit and nonprofit organizations has prepared me well for this role, and I look forward to contributing to the institution's mission of science education and environmental conservation."
Shear previously served as the director for annual giving strategic marketing and analytics for The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, as well as acting as an independent marketing and business consultant, according to her Linkedin page.
"Debra's expertise and leadership as our new chief advancement officer will be instrumental in achieving our goals, ensuring that more individuals and communities benefit from the transformative power of science education and environmental conservation," EcoTarium President & CEO Noreen Johnson Smith said in the press release. "I am delighted to welcome Debra to the team as we work on the museum's strategic priorities to expand community engagement and access, modernize exhibits, and lead on conservation initiatives."
The hiring follows the May departure of the museum’s former vice president of institutional advancement, Kerry Castorano.
