Less than two months after announcing the departure of former president and CEO Lucy Hale, the EcoTarium science museum in Worcester has named a second temporary president and CEO, Michael Halperson.
Halperson, who took over on June 23, replaces Kerry Castorano, the vice president of institutional advancement, who was appointed the museum’s acting leader after Hale’s May 28 departure.
The EcoTarium said Castorano remains with the company and is helping onboard Halperson into his interim position.
Halperson is affiliated with the Needham-based Interim Executive Solutions, a management consultancy firm that specializes in helping nonprofits fill leadership roles on a temporary basis.
Hale’s tenure as head of the EcoTarium was contentious, with staff members sending an anonymous letter in July 2020 to the board, asking to remove Hale from her position, nearly a year before she ultimately left. They expressed concerns about budget cuts, staff turnover and alleged mismanagement.
