Economists predicting coronavirus recession

Due to the outbreaks of COVID-19 throughout the world, 42% of economists surveyed by the Initiative on Global Markets of the University of Chicago predict a major recession to result.

Around 26% of the economists surveyed by the IGM of the University of Chicago were uncertain of what will occur out of the COVID-19 outbreaks, but only 8% of the economists surveyed disagreed with the possibility of a global economic recession.

One of the economists surveyed on this question anticipated a global recession based on what is occurring in Italy, assuming much of the world follows a similar path.

The uncertain economists said they could not confidently conclude what will occur based off of their unknowing of how long this crisis will continue.
