Economic experts to present revised 2020 forecast for Central Mass.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc on the economy, experts at a WBJ panel on Tuesday will aim to address some key questions about current national and economic data and attempt to provide some perspective.

Robert Baumann, economics professor at the College of the Holy Cross, says Worcester still has underlying economic concerns.

Moderated by WBJ publisher and CEO Peter Stanton, panelists will include Jeffrey Fuhrer, an M-RCBG senior fellow at Harvard Kennedy School of Government in Boston; Julia Georgules, director of research for East and Canada at real estate firm JLL; and Robert Baumann, professor and chair of the economics department at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.

Together, they will discuss which industries have been impacted the most, the impact of the government stimulus efforts, how Mass. is performing compared to other states and which Central Mass. sectors are facing the steepest downturn. From there, they will look forward and consider what recovery might look like, and how economic opportunity looks through the lens of race and equality, as well as what life might look like on the other side of the pandemic.

The webcast forum will take place between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. More information is available here: www.wbjournal.com/economicforecast.
