Four area chambers are holding a 2009 economic forecast breakfast on Wednesday, June 17, from 7:45 to 10 a.m. at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel at 181 Boston Post Road West in Marlborough.
"Everybody wants to know where we're going and what's going to happen," said Susanne Morreale-Leeber, Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, who has pulled the event together.
"We do this every year because we want to bring different industries in to tell people what's happening," she said.
The speakers will be: Donna Cupelo, Massachusetts and Rhode Island president for Verizon Communications; Garry Holmes, president of RW Holmes Realty of Wayland; and Greg Turner, deputy business editor at the Boston Herald.
"I think that a lot of the news we read or hear about is usually the bad stuff and I hope to stress a lot of the positives," Caulfield said. "The economy has had an effect on everybody, both locally and nationally, and I think discussion among business people is always a good thing."
Caulfield said that many customers are rediscovering local financial institutions like credit unions and community banks now that large institutions have cut back on lending and are making less credit available.
"I hope to offer what I see happening here locally in credit unions and community banking, and how St. Mary's Credit Union is doing," he said.
The tickets are $40 for members of the Marlborough chamber or members of the MetroWest, Corridor Nine Area and Milford Area chambers of commerce. Non-member tickets are $50. The event includes a full breakfast.
