Westborough-based information technology firm eClinicalWorks said it’s investing another $50 million in its mobile health business unit, allowing the company to hire an additional 100 software developers.
The electronic medical records firm launched the Health and Online Wellness Division (healow) in February with $25 million in funding and roughly 75 workers.
“Our population health and the healow patient engagement programs have received tremendously positive response and rapid use,” CEO Girish Navani said in a statement. “We currently have 14 million people using healow patient engagement tools and more than five million messages are sent to patients monthly.”
The extra $50 million will be used to enhance and expand patient offerings on a free mobile application that allows patients to access their own and family electronic health records, eClinicalWorks said.
Within the next year, the app will in the next year offer home monitoring tools, appointment scheduling and services for patients checking in at doctors’ offices.
