EasyPak of Leominster has gotten the state’s go-ahead to double the size of its 21,000-square-foot building.
The plastics manufacturer announced Wednesday that the Massachusetts Economic Assistance Coordinating Council (EACC) approved the plans, along with 18 other projects under the Economic Development Incentive Program (EDIP).
EasyPak, in business since 2004, is planning to invest $7.5 million and add around 20,000 square feet to its facility at 24 Jytek Drive, and to upgrade machinery and other equipment.
To meet demand, EasyPak currently outsources about 15 percent of its production of thermoformed plastic packaging products, the company statement said. In November, the privately held company said the expansion plans would add at least 15 jobs to its workforce of about 70 people.
The city of Leominster has granted the company a five-year, $330,966 tax increment financing and personal property tax exemption agreement.
In addition, the EACC has approved $262,500 in EDIP investment tax credits, the company said.
