Easter Seals open Worcester assistive technology center

The Easter Seals opened an assistive technology center in Worcester last week to help children and adults with disabilities explore and test technology to increase their independence.
The MassMatch Assistive Technology Regional Center opened on Friday on Main Street at the Easter Seals location, Easter Seals said in a press release.
Easter Seals, a nonprofit organization providing services to adults and children with disabilities, now offers the chance to test assistive technology, much like a library, Easter Seals said.
Hundreds of devices are available for communication, education, hearing, vision impairment and daily living. Individuals can take equipment home and try it out for up to four weeks.
MassMatch Assistive Technology Regional Centers, the group supplying the equipment, is funded by the Rehabilitation Service Administration of the U.S. Department of Education.
In a press release, Easter Seals President and CEO Paul Medeiros said he uses assistive technology every day to live independently.
“The devices you see in this center enable people with disabilities of all ages to accomplish their dreams, and their value cannot be understated,” said Peter G., an Easter Seals client, in a press release.
