Marlborough-based 3Com Corp. reported a third quarter net loss of $7.8 million compared to a net loss of $4.8 million for the same period a year ago.
The company’s third quarter ended Feb. 29.
The company narrowed its operating loss from $8.9 million in the third quarter of 2007 to $6 million this year.
The data network equipment maker reported revenue of $336 million compared to $323 million the previous year.
3Com and Bain Capital Partners of Boston recently failed to close a merger transaction that would’ve paid 3Com $2.2 billion. The merger was put on hold after national security concerns were raised by the federal government. Bain withdrew its offer after it and 3Com couldn’t agree on new merger terms.
3Com said the company should be compensated $66 million for the merger failure.
