Durable Goods Orders Fall 5.2% In January

Orders for durable goods manufactured in the United States fell by 5.2 percent in January, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The January decline was the sixth consecutive monthly decline in orders for long-lasting products like appliances, computers and automobiles.

The number of orders decreased in each of the department’s sectors as companies and consumers in the U.S. and abroad put off major purchases.
