Maugel DeStefano Architects announced completion of a 4,200 square-foot medical office suite for Orthopedic Affiliates Joint & Sports Medicine Center and Achieve Physical Therapy. The facility opened to patients in March, according to LinkedIn posts by the tenants.
The project is the fourth that the Harvard-based architecture firm has completed with Acton-based Achieve Physical Therapy, according to a June 21 press release.
“Despite the challenge of integrating the needs of two medical groups into one space, Maugel DeStefano created a cohesive space that achieved our shared vision.” Achieve Physical Therapy CEO Bob Thomas said in the press release.
The project was a design-build in partnership with Green Leaf Construction of Leominster. Design Day Mechanical of New Ipswich, New Hampshire and S.B. Sager & Associates of Stoughton provided engineering services for the project.
The medical suite is located in The Shops at Highland Commons, a nearly one-million-square-foot shopping center located on the Hudson-Berlin border.
The architects had to adapt the space to the retail location.
“The design team took full advantage of the building’s high-bay ceiling height to create transitions from the open physical therapy area to the more intimate exam rooms of the orthopedic suite,” said the press release. “The use of glazing and transparency in key locations created an inviting space that also preserved patient privacy—a primary concern in retail environments.”
