Downtown Worcester BID names local entrepreneur as new program director

The Downtown Worcester Business Improvement District named Electric Haze owner Victoria Mariano as its new program director, overseeing its efforts focused on placemaking, beautification, safety, and hospitality.

Mariano will be responsible for developing and implementing new programs and initiatives to further enhance the downtown area, driving growth and community engagement, according to a Tuesday press release from the Downtown Worcester BID.

Mariano owns the Millbury Street entertainment venue and lounge, Electric Haze. She is the former co-owner of Bull Mansion, and a graduate of Clark University in Worcester.

“Her experience as an entrepreneur, commitment to community development, and passion for Downtown Worcester make her the ideal candidate to lead our program initiatives,” BID Executive Director Evelyn Darling said in the Tuesday press release. “We look forward to working together to make Downtown Worcester an even better place to live, work, and play.”

The Downtown Worcester BID is a nonprofit organization established in 2018 representing more than 100 property owners in downtown Worcester, funded by a surcharge on property tax bills. It seeks to create a unique sense of place through enhanced investment and development, establishing and sustaining a vibrant, welcoming, and economically viable district for all, according to the press release.
