Discover Central Massachusetts on Wednesday announced it will run a summer-long photo contest aimed at bolstering the Worcester small business community. The contest, dubbed #WeLoveWorcester, will include weekly prizes and a grande finale showdown the first week of September.
The contest asks residents to share photos of themselves, family and friends wearing masks and socially distancing at Worcester businesses. Photos may be shared with the hashtag #WeLoveWorcester or on the organization’s social media pages.
“We want to do our part to encourage local residents, to the extent they are comfortable, to venture out and patronize businesses in the hospitality sector, one of – if not the – hardest hit industry,” said Monique Messier, the newly appointed DCM executive director who started in June, in a statement. “Of course, we encourage people to practice the required safety precautions as they support these businesses that are in such desperate need of customer support right now.”
Entries will be accepted on a rolling basis through Aug. 23. One weekly winner will be announced every Monday and awarded a $25 cash prize. Weekly winners will be entered to the grand finale for a $1,000 cash prize to be announced Sept. 8.
Entries will be judged based on creativity and adherence to the rules.
