A proposed Grafton cannabis dispensary has taken another step toward opening to the public, requiring that employees of the location be licensed through a dispensary associate certificate.
Discern’d Cannabis, which plans to open on Worcester Street in Grafton sometime during the summer of 2022, announced the employee mandate on Thursday. Employees will be trained to receive the certificate from the GF Institute, which provides online certification badges to demonstrate that an employee is trained in handling cannabis products.
“Requiring all Discern'd purveyors to hold the Dispensary Associate Certificate is further evidence of our commitment to educate consumers about the role cannabis can play in enhancing their lives,” said Discern’d CEO Allan Villatoro in a statement. “A competitive differentiator at Discern'd is the stress we place on education as the key that enables consumers to truly appreciate the innate nuances, subtleties and characteristics of cannabis.”
According to the town of Grafton’s website, Discern’d Cannabis first applied for the special permit for a registered marijuana dispensary back in January of 2021. It was approved by the town in March of that same year.
In addition to the scheduled opening of the dispensary, Discern’d also runs its own podcast, “The Discerning Eye”, as part of its stated mission to educate consumers about the benefits of cannabis use.
