A Worcester housing services, adult foster care, and employment assistance company is adding a second location, the company confirmed Friday.
MyChoice: Programs for Independent Living has leased 2,095 square feet of office space at 708 Park Ave., not too far from its current Main Street offices, CEO Alain Beret said. The agency has experienced a significant amount of growth in recent years, because clients are requesting different kinds of services -- like adult foster care through MassHealth -- as they get older.
The expansion will allow MyChoice to install a hydroponics farm in the backyard of its current building on Main Street and hire about 10-15 people with intellectual disabilities to work there, said Beret. The farm will produce fresh vegetables that will be sold to local restaurants, he said.
In total, MyChoice will add about 20 new employees over the next 12 to 18 months, he said. It has about 43 employees right now, he said.
Beret is also listed as one of the managers of the limited liability corporation that owns the Park Avenue building, which he recently acquired in a sale brokered by Kelleher & Sadowsky of Worcester.
