Construction on a 58-unit senior independent living complex in Devens will reach its ceremonial three-story peak at an event Wednesday.
The topping-off ceremony for Shirley Meadows will include MassDevelopment President and CEO Lauren Liss, MassDevelopment Senior Vice President of Devens Jessica Strunkin, Women’s Institute for Housing and Economic Development COO Loni Willey, and State Sen. Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton).
The complex, at 27 Hospital Road, sits in the Shirley portion of Devens just behind Ayer-Shirley Regional Middle School.
Shirley Meadows is being built by the Women’s Institute for Housing and Economic Development, a nonprofit affordable housing developer based in Boston and Hartford. It will feature housing for seniors 62 and older, with 38 units set aside for households earning up to 60% of the area median income, four units for households earning up to 50% of the median, and 16 units for households earning up to 30% of the median.
Construction, which started in May, is expected to be complete by next summer.
