Framingham-based office supply retail giant Staples Inc. said its second-quarter net income rose to $179 million, an 11 percent increase over the same period a year ago.
The company said its total North American sales for the quarter were up 5 percent. But same-store sales were down 2 percent. The company said its North American delivery service drove sales growth across all major product categories.
The company’s worldwide sales also rose 11 percent compared to last year, to $4.3 billion.
