Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU) became the first reported credit union to surpass the $1-billion mark in remote electronic check deposits for individual consumers, the Marlborough-based institution announced.
DCU said the milestone was reached in a little more than four years, after it introduced a service that allows members to deposit checks using a computer and scanner. Checks are processed electronically and posted to members’ accounts the same day.
DCU, the largest credit union in New England, holds assets of more than $4 billion and serves more than 354,000 members nationwide.
