Employees of Marlborough-based Digital Federal Credit Union pumped 8,233 gallons of gas yesterday at a Worcester “$1.99 gas promotion.”
Drivers were able to gas up for under $2 a gallon, rather than the regular price of $3.63, at the Pleasant & Park Gulf Gas Station. The credit union said drivers waited an hour or more in a line that at one point was backed up for two miles.
As part of the promotion, DCU also donated $2,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Efforts to help families affected by tornadoes in Central and Western Massachusetts.
