Due to security concerns with a completely cloud-based solution, Digital Federal Credit Union has dropped Google as its primary search vendor.

The Marlborough-based financial institution announced on Wednesday the switch to Florida-based Yippy, a tech company specializing in enterprise search and data unification.

According to DCU’s press release, Google’s announcement it was sunsetting the Google Search Appliance in favor of a 100-percent cloud-based solution didn’t sit well with the company.

“For financial institutions such as DCU, a cloud-based solution is not an option due to data security and compliance issues,” the company said in the release.

Yippy was the only vendor to pass DCU’s security requirements. The financial institution has already transitioned away from Google, according to the company.
