The DAVIS Companies of Marlborough will this week sponsor an event centered around filling the skills gap in the STEM fields through education.
The recruiting company on Thursday is sponsoring a lunchtime panel discussion for human resources professionals, technology managers, and directors at Synopsys in Marlborough. The city’s mayor, Arthur Vigeant, will kick off the discussion by talking about Marlborough’s STEM efforts. After that, representatives from Dow Chemical, Synopsys, Partnership for a Skilled Workforce Youth Careers and the DAVIS Cos. will participate in a panel discussion on STEM initiatives.
In an announcement, the DAVIS Cos. cited a Deloitte study that predicted 3.5 million new manufacturing jobs will become available in the next decade, but that the workforce will have only 1.5 million people with the necessary skills to fill them.
The free event will take place from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday, and lunch will be provided.
