Davis Cos. Moves Within Marlborough

The Davis Companies, a Marlborough-based staffing firm, is moving from Boston Post Road into a new location in Marlborough that is nearly double the size.

The company has grown its local staff about 45 percent in the past year and now employs more than 60 people at its Marlborough office.

"We were bursting at the seams," said Robert Davis, president and founder of the company.

The Davis Cos. is officially moving into a 20,000-square-foot Class A office space at 325 Donald Lynch Blvd. Oct. 15.

Market Demand

The Davis Cos. provides a variety of staffing solutions to clients around the nation.

It provides traditional contract labor in the skilled manufacturing, light industrial, engineering and IT sectors, among other industries. It also provides direct-hire placements for firms that are looking for full-time workers, and the company provides contract managed services where the Davis Cos. manages a company's temporary workforce needs. The company also has a transportation services division that provides drivers for businesses.

The last few years have been a busy time for The Davis Cos.

"We've been focused intensely on growth," Davis said. "Even through the recession, there are businesses out there that were growing and we were determined to be one of them."

To accommodate the growth, the company will be moving off of Boston Post Road, where it has been for decades.

The company previously rented space at 488, 201 and 33 Boston Post Rd.

While Davis knew that the company needed expanded space, he also knew he wanted to keep his company in Marlborough.

"It's a great community, it has a central location and has been a great place to have a business," he said.

The new office building will have about double the space of the current offices and will include 800 to 1,000 square feet of space dedicated for internal training, Davis said.

"We've really had a focus on internal development and staff development," said Ryan Clutterbuck, the company's general manager. "We want to make sure we have the right people giving our customers the services they need."

Davis said the company's lease at its 33 Boston Post Rd. site was expiring soon, so he began looking for new space for the company. He said there were many options available, but as soon as they saw the Donald Lynch Boulevard site, company officials knew it was the one.

"This will really support our growth for the company for some time to come," Davis said.

While the move has already begun, the company is officially changing its address on Oct. 15.
