Dr.
ANDREW LEITER has joined the division of gastroenterology at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, Leiter received his MD and PhD degrees from Case Western Reserve University. His residency training was at Boston Medical Center, and he completed a fellowship at Tufts-New England Medical Center.
Dr.
ANGELA RESTREPO has joined the medical center's division of diabetes and endocrinology. She received her medical degree from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Colombia. She completed her residency at Caritas Carney Hospital and a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at UMass Memorial. Board certified in internal medicine, she is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Dr.
CAROLINA IONETE joins the UMass Memorial Medical Group and the department of neurology. She is an assistant professor of neurology at UMass Medical School. A physician with extensive training in treating multiple sclerosis, Ionete is a member of the staff at UMass Memorial's Multiple Sclerosis Center. Board certified in neurology, she attended Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania.

MARK MANNING has joined the centers department of obstetrics and gynecology. He graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine, and this year, he completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

LOUISE O'BRIEN as executive vice president, corporate strategy and development. O'Brien will be responsible for overseeing EMC's corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, office of the chief technology officer and new ventures group.
Gov. Deval Patrick has named
SHARON SCOTT-CHANDLER of Natick to the Board of Early Education and Care. Scott-Chandler is vice president of Action for Boston Community Development for Head Start and Children's Services. She will become the board's new chair.
Southbridge-based Harrington Memorial Hospital has hired
DON RIVERS as plant operations director. He comes to Harrington Memorial Hospital from Mercy Medical Center, where he has worked for more than 20 years.
Quabaug Corp. in North Brookfield has elected
KEVIN DONAHUE, Quabaug Corp.'s CEO, to chairman of the board. His appointment follows Roger Varnum who resigned as chair - a position that he has held since 1995.
The Colleges of Worcester Consortium Inc. has announced the formation of a task force on immigration and higher education in Central Massachusetts. The 30-member task force is composed of both college and university officials as well as representatives from community organizations that are impacted by immigration policies and trends. The charge of the task force will be to collect and analyze important facts and trends about immigration and higher education in Central Massachusetts, and to determine recommendations for consortium member institutions as well as policy makers. The task force will meet monthly through November, and a report will be published in December. Members of the task force are:

Waterford Hotel Group has appointed
SUNIL SHARMA as general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott in Westborough. Sharma will oversee all operational, sales and administrative aspects of the hotel. He joins the Westborough Courtyard with more than 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including several postings as food and beverage director for such brands as Marriott, Radisson, Holiday Inn and DoubleTree.
Worcester Sharks President and CEO Michael T. Lehr announced today that
ERIC LINDQUIST has been hired as the new "Voice of your Worcester Sharks." Lindquist brings five years of broadcasting experience to the Sharks organization coming from both professional hockey and baseball. In addition to his play-by-play responsibilities, the 28-year-old will also manage the broadcasting and corporate sales duties. He most recently served as director of media relations and baseball operations and radio voice for the Long Beach Armada, a professional baseball team in the Golden Baseball League.
