Cybex Re-names Exercise Institute

Medway-based exercise equipment manufacturer Cybex International Inc. has rebranded the research arm of the company as the Cybex Institute for Exercise Science.
The new entity was formerly known only as the Cybex Institute.
The role of the institute is to work with universities, hospitals and sports organizations to explore cardiac health, obesity, orthopedic impact and sports and human performance. The research plays a significant role in the development of Cybex exercise equipment, the company said.
In the second quarter, Cybex reported a $2.1 million net loss on $27.8 million in sales. In the same period the prior year, the company reported a $100,000 profit on sales of $33.1 million.
