CVS grants aid 2 Central Mass. groups

Two Central Massachusetts community health organizations are among five statewide that will share in $178,000 from the charitable arm of the CVS pharmacy chain aimed at supporting community health and expanding access to quality health care nationwide.

The Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center of Worcester and Sudbury-based Metro West Free Medical Program were named grant recipients by CVS Caremark Charitable Trust – CVS’s private foundation, in partnership with National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (NAFC).

The money is part of a $5 million nationwide commitment by the foundation toward supporting community health and improving access to health care.
The Kennedy center plans to use the money to support a diabetes management program, while the Metro West Free program plans to use its grant to expand patient care.
