Westborough convenience store chain Cumberland Farms has reached 600 employees at its distribution center after a $15-million renovation and expansion that includes adding its headquarters staff.
The company, which has more than 600 stores in eight states, now holds its business office, which was formerly in Framingham, along with distribution operations and a culinary center in the massive building just off the intersection of the Massachusetts Turnpike and Interstate 495.
The structure covers 13 acres and has a 28,000-square-foot freezer and refrigeration center. The renovation and expansion also included a new facade facing Flanders Road. With all its operations now at the Westborough site, the workforce there has risen from 313 to 600.
Cumberland Farms will have a ceremony marking completion of the project on March 11. The larger operations were up and running by Jan. 1.
The latest expansion follows a $20-million renovation at the facility in 2014.
