National Grid and NStar have renewed contracts with Westborough-based Conservation Services Group to administer the Mass Save program through the end of 2012.
Each utility ran a competitive bidding process to select a vendor to manage the program. Both companies have worked with CSG for the past few years to implement the program.
Mass Save is a state-mandated program sponsored by utility companies to encourage energy efficiency upgrades in the homes of natural gas and electricity customers. Each company selects a vendor to organize what sort of energy efficiency upgrades will be completed in the homes of customers. With the new contract, CSG could work with up to 3 million Massachusetts residents.
During the past two years of running the program, CSG has increased the number of home inspections by 40 percent and has increased the number of contractors installing the energy efficiency upgrades by three-fold. The company hopes to add 100 new contractors this year.
