Boxborough-based Crossbeam Systems Inc., maker of security platforms, has appointed company co-founder Mike Akerman chief technology officer.
With more than 20 years of telecommunications and network security experience, he also served as director of advanced technology for Crossbeam.
He was formerly vice president of engineering at security company Intrusic and director of engineering for Xylan Corp.’s business provider business unit, which he also co-founded.
Previously, Akerman held management posts at Bay Networks/Wellfleet and at Prime Computer, where he focused on serving corporate networks of Fortune 1000 companies.
He holds a bachelor’s in mathematics and a master’s in applied physics from the University of Latvia.
