Toro Loco Taqueria has opened its doors at the DCU Center in Worcester at the location left vacant when specialty donut shop Glazy Susan closed in January.
Toro Loco Owners Miguel Perez and Denise Medina will be serving up food based on family recipes from Union de Tula in Jalisco, Mexico, according to a Tuesday press release from the DCU Center’s management company ASM Global. The couple moved to Spencer from Southern California 11 years ago.
“Growing up, I remember spending so much time playing in the kitchen while watching my mother and grandmother cook,” Perez said in the press release. “Their love of food and my love of their food inspired me to carry on the family tradition of bringing people together as a restaurant owner with a deep passion of serving the community.”
Perez operates the family-owned Mexicali Cantina Grill location in Spencer, but he told WBJ he started Toro Loco with his wife because he wanted to do his own thing.
The shop is open seven days a week and will hold a grand opening celebration on Sept. 4.
The DCU Center is owned by the City of Worcester and managed by international venue management firm, ASM Global.
