An owner and operator of nightclubs and concert venues plans to open a country bar in the former Mambo Nightclub at 105 Water St. in Worcester.
Moonshiners Country Bar is slated to open in late August, owner and operator Bernie Goulet said in a Monday press release. According to Goulet, he has ran several bars and nightclubs in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and has spent more than 16 years doing so.
Goulet is the owner of the 900-person concert venue Granite State Music Hall in Laconia, N.H.
Moonshiners in Worcester will be the second such location in Massachusetts. Goulet’s first Moonshiner’s is in Haverhill.
The bar will feature live country music every Friday and Saturday night and will be available to host functions and private events.
In a statement, Goulet noted the activity in the Canal District, specifically the new and established bars and restaurants like Whiskey on Water and Rock Bar.
“Worcester has been a city that I have been looking at opening a business in for a long time, and I feel not only the timing is right but also the location will be perfect,” he said. “I’m excited to be part of the revitalization of Worcester and specifically being in the Canal District.”
Goulet previously worked as the booking agent for the Locobazooka Rock Festivals held at Green Hill Park and the Fitchburg AIrport. He then formed his own concert and production company, New England Concerts LLC.
