For years, the primary targets for corporate relocations were 30-somethings looking for career advancement. Not so, anymore. Instead, companies are asking 40-somethings and seasoned veterans to relocate for the good of the company. It’s a movement that parallels another workplace trend: the demand for higher skilled workers. From 1973 to 1987 the number of transferees over 40-years-old hovered at approximately 12 percent, according to Atlas Van Lines’ annual corporate relocation surveys. Today, the number is around 30 percent.
