Five of Cornerstone Bank senior vice presidents are being promoted to more executive roles.
The new roles are across multiple departments in the Worcester-based bank, with two coming in the retail and lending sectors along with three promotions amongst those who occupy c-suite roles, according to a Wednesday press release.
“These five employees have shown they have great leadership skills at the senior vice president level, proving they are ready to take on more responsibilities within the institution,” said Todd Tallman, CEO of Cornerstone Bank, in the press release. “They give their best every day to our customers and staff, and are excited to take on expanded roles.”
Most notable among the promotions is Brian Loveless, who is the bank’s chief financial officer, along with his new executive vice president role. A member of the bank for five years, he was formerly an executive vice president and CFO at Passumpsic Savings Bank in Vermont, and CFO at People’s United Insurance Co. in Connecticut. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics and psychology from Ithaca College in New York and later attended the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.
The other four members who are being promoted are Altaf Ahmed, who is now the EVP of retail banking, Scott Auen, EVP of retail lending, Thomas Dufresne, the company’s chief information officer, and Maria Salvatore, who serves as chief culture officer.
Prior to the promotions to executive vice president, all five members held senior vice president roles.
Cornerstone Bank was founded in 1871 and has more than $1.3 billion in assets as of 2021, according to the WBJ Book of Lists. It has 12 branches across the state and employs around 160 people on its staff. It currently has more than $1 billion in local deposits, which ranks fourth among banks with headquarters in Central Massachusetts, behind Middlesex Savings Bank, UniBank, and Avidia Bank.
