A year and a half after it purchased the property, Southbridge-based Cornerstone Bank is set to open a branch in Worcester’s Tatnuck Square this spring.
The former Santander Bank branch at 1125 Pleasant St. will include a drive-up video teller and ATM, according to a Cornerstone press release on Tuesday.
“We’re excited for this opportunity to meet more customers where they are,” Cornerstone CEO Todd Tallman said in the press release. “We’re confident this new location will make banking easier and faster for those who live and work in the Tatnuck area.”
Cornerstone purchased the half-acre property featuring a 2,250-square-foot building for $2.1 million in August 2023, following the closure of the Santander branch in June of that year.
With the opening of the Tatnuck branch, Cornerstone will have three branches in Worcester. Additional Cornerstone branches are located in Charlton, Holden, Leicester, Rutland, Shrewsbury, Southbridge, Spencer, Sturbridge, Warren, and Webster. The firm is undergoing a $6-billion merger with Holyoke-based PeoplesBank.
Cornerstone is the 10th largest bank in Central Massachusetts, with $1.2 billion in local deposits and $1.6 billion in total assets, according to information collected by the WBJ Research Department.
